1st Anniversary Celebration!
Please join us on Sunday, January 18th for a potluck party from 4 until 7pm at the Cline house!

Our mission statement:
Clearview Sudbury School is a private day school for children ages 4-19. Based on the model established forty years ago by the Sudbury Valley School, Clearview students will:

  • Decide freely how to use their time
  • Develop self-direction through a limitless curriculum, including
    • play
    • independent study
    • interaction with students of all ages
    • student-initiated classes
  • Participate in a democratically-run community in which all members have an equal vote
  • Cultivate trustworthiness and responsibility by participating in a judicial body
  • Elect staff annually and allocate funds for resources
  • Learn how to learn, preparing themselves with discipline and self-confidence to succeed in a changing world and a changing economy

We are a start-up for a Sudbury Model school based in Austin, TX. The Sudbury Valley Model is a student-centered model. It is a proven model. The first school was founded in 1968, and there are now approximately 30 existing schools of this type worldwide. It is fundamentally different from standard, hierarchal, educational practices.

The core values of the school are trust, respect, freedom, and responsibilty. People learn best when allowed to develop their natural inclinations in an environment where they are respected. Students are responsible for their own learning, and are free to pursue their own interests at their own pace. Naturally, students must balance their own wants with those of the community. Real responsibility is best learned through experience. These core principles produce students who know how to learn, and who hone their natural ability to adapt to changing demands.

The Clearview Sudbury School is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in education and employment. CSS does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, employment policies, financial aid, and any other administered programs and activities.
